About David : The Working LifeIn the summer of 1986, after the apprenticeship and the degree, David returned to Plessey Radar at Cowes and worked in the Digital Techniques Design department. There he designed digital circuit boards and silicon chips for a number of different Radar systems. He also wrote a series of software packages to assist with the control and programming of programmable integrated circuits In 1987 David met his future wife Kerstin, who is from Germany. They married in 1989 and the following year Plessey's was bought by Siemens and GEC. The radar part ended up with Siemens, so without moving from the Island David now had both a German wife and worked for a German firm. In 1990 David and Kerstin moved to Germany and lived in a small village called Rohrbach which is just to the north of Munich. In Germany David still worked for Siemens and for the Radar division at Unterschleißheim. He continued to design silicon chips for a number of different systems. The work and life in Germany was very interesting and enjoyable, however by 1996 life was changing again. David and Kerstin returned to the UK in 1996, when his wife was expecting twins and they bought a house in West End, Southampton. David continued to work for Siemens and obtained a place as a engineer at Roke Manor Research, Romsey. Initially David continued to perform an engineering design role, however he quickly moved into project and line management firstly as a Senior Group Manager for 8 years and then onto a his current position as Senior Project Leader. In his current position David works within the Network Security Technology Centre, where he is responsible for a range of projects and technical developments.
