David Goodall Liberal Democrat serving West End

About David : The College Years

Starting in 1983 David took a 3-year full time degree course at Portsmouth Polytechnic in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and because he was a sponsored student, also did an Industrial Studies Diploma.

The degree involved study in mathematics, control & power electronics, electrical circuits, electronic engineering, electromagnetics, engineering properties of materials, measurements & instrumentation, telecommunication & signal processing, automation & robotics, management & business studies.

The Industrial Studies Diploma involved studying engineering management and support services on a 3-year day-release course, which also had study and residential elements during the college 'holiday' period.

In this heavy study schedule David got his main breaks from playing Hockey and Rotaract activities at the weekend when he returned to the Isle of Wight. He also found his Christian faith in this period, after he read the Gideon's New Testament given to him at Cowes High School many years before.

By the summer of 1986 David had completed his degree with a good 2.1 honours level pass and was ready to return to the working world.
